Powder Steel Knife
Advantages of Powder steel Over Conventional Stainless Steel
Core Principle
Conventional steel is produced by pouring molten steel and allowing it to cool. For powder steel, molten steel is atomized into ultra-fine powder, which is then sintered under high pressure. This results in fine, evenly distributed carbides without coarse particles or material segregation.

Key Advantages of Powder Steel
1. Greatly improved edge retention (wear-resistance)
At the same hardness level, the blade dulls much more slowly and the interval between sharpening is significantly extended. Powder steels such as M390 and ZDP-189 often deliver 2-3 times better edge retention than premium conventional stainless steels like VG-10. Well-suited for commercial kitchens and heavy-duty continuous cutting tasks.
2. Balanced hardness and toughness
Conventional stainless steel faces a trade-off: higher hardness brings brittleness and higher risk of chipping, while better toughness requires lower hardness. Powder-metallurgy technology overcomes this compromise. It achieves high hardness of HRC 62-64 with good toughness, resisting edge chipping and rolling.
3. Fine-ground edge for smooth cutting performance
Thanks to its fine and uniform grain structure, an extremely thin, clean cutting edge can be achieved. It cuts food smoothly without tearing fibres and delivers excellent performance when slicing thin pieces.
4. Superior material consistency and batch stability
Conventionally cast steel may suffer from carbide aggregation, leading to performance variation within one batch. Powder steel features a homogeneous structure; every blade shows more consistent performance.
5. Corrosion resistance (powder-metallurgy stainless steel)
Powder steels contain sufficient chromium for decent rust resistance. They do not demand the high-level maintenance required by high-carbon steel.

FAQ
Q1: Do you have a Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) requirement?
A: For most of our products, we keep ready-to-ship stock in our warehouse, so there is no MOQ requirement for stock items. Regular orders can be dispatched within 7 days. For custom or bespoke orders, the MOQ and lead time will depend on your specific requirements; please contact us for further details.
Q2: Can I get samples before placing a bulk order?
A: Absolutely. We invest heavily in premium raw materials and rigorous quality control, so we encourage you to request samples for quality inspection. We are confident you will be satisfied with our craftsmanship. The sample fee is fully refundable once your formal bulk order is confirmed.
Q3: What types of steel do you currently offer? Can I customize the material?
A: We work with a wide range of high-performance steels, including: Standard/Premium: 440C Stainless Steel, German 1.4116, AUS10, and 10Cr15CoMoV. High-end Powder Metallurgy (PM) Steels: S35VN, ZDP189, PM204, SG2, etc. Material customization is available depending on the order volume and technical compatibility. Please consult with our sales team for a detailed feasibility assessment.
